Seun Onigbinde, Gbenga Adeyinka, Mike Dada, others lend their Voice for the 3k4 Orphans Campaign

Giving Garage is set to hold its second edition of the orphans support programme themed; “The Green Reception; Lets Encourage Celebrations at Charity Homes”, scheduled to hold on Sunday January 31, 2016, at the Heart of Gold Children Hospices, Surulere, Lagos.

To commemorate Giving Garage Orphanage Outreach in January after successfully hosting the Green Giving Yuletide at the Lions Village Motherless Babies Home in Lekki inspired by YALI GOES GREEN, Chaste Inegbedion, Leap Africa Social Innovation Fellow & Founder Giving Garage is collaborating with Heart of Gold Children Hospices an organization dedicated to abandoned and orphaned children suffering from a vast range of severe congenital, physical and mental disabilities through the power of grassroots action and advocacy by providing information, support, and campaigning for improved standards of care for abandoned Children in the 3K4Orphans Campaign.

3K4Orphans arises from the dire need to assist Orphans. The idea is that if Five Hundred People donates Three Thousand naira each, 3K4Orphans will successfully raise One Million, Five Hundred Thousand naira for Orphans.

The funds will go towards the Heart of Gold Hospices (Orphanage) to start an entrepreneurial venture that would help sustain the home on a monthly basis, create jobs and fulfil the SDGs Goal 1 to reduce Poverty.

Managing Director, PRMAfrica and Executive Producer, AFRIMA, Mike Dada, notes that

    “At a time like this using Prominent Personalities as a force of good to raise awareness for this Initiative. The campaign is also a fantastic opportunity to shed light on the financial challenges orphanage homes face and crowd-funding for entrepreneurial ventures to sustain homes on a monthly basis with less emphasis on Grants & Sponsorship.

    Together, we stand to help these orphans with special needs & letting them know we care. All proceeds of the 3K4Orphans Campaign go to the orphanage home entrepreneurial venture.”

Campaign Leader Chaste Inegbedion speaking on the 3K4Orphans campaign says

    “sometimes, it is important to remember that we all have a responsibility to the world that we have been placed in. 3K4Orphans campaign is an opportunity to show that there is power in every single one of us to change our society; in this situation, improving the living standards of orphans and encouraging celebrations at this home starting with January Celebrants. Together, we can raise One Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira and more!”

3K4Orphans will run throughout the month of January till post Valentine Day with a weekly diary in partnership with Agbowo.com as well via twitter documenting money raised.

This information will also be available both on Agbowo and the Giving Garage website alongside photographs taken with individual and organizational donors.

Vanessa Mdee Wins Big at AFRIMA!

Hit maker Vanessa Mdee, aka Vee Money, for the second year running wins an All Africa Music Award (AFRIMA) in Lagos, Nigeria.

This time for the Best African Pop song. The accolade was for last year’s hater responding track Hawajui and comes after last year’s win for Best East African Female Artist.

Vee Money was up against talents Wande Coal, Ycee, Don Bigg, Meezo L Fadly, DJ Fadly and Toofan.

Vanessa also performed at the awards show alongside Waje and Victoria Kimani who were later joined by Diamond Platnumz when singing the inspirational song Strong Girl.

Later this month Vanessa will be performing at what has been dubbed as the biggest concert in Africa this year at the African Music Concert on the 21st of November in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The concert will feature beat banging artist such as Wizkid, Davido, Flavour, Burna Boy, AKA, Cashtime, Casper Nyovest, Roberto and Bucie to name a few.

Vanessa Mdee is a multi time Kilimanjaro Tanzania Music Award winner and recipient of the All African Music Awards (AFRIMA) Best East African Artist 2014, African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) Best East African Female Act 2015.

AFRICAN SUPERSTARS ROCK LAGOS AT AFRIMA 2015

It was a phenomenal night for African music, culture, entertainment, fashion and African music lovers across the world as the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA in partnership with the African Union held the 2015 edition on Sunday, November 15 at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria to delight of live and broadcast audience.

In addition to the many scintillating performances from the five regions of Africa as led by joint rendition of Paul Simon’s ‘Diamond on the soles of her shoes’ by Cobhams and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, there were surprises and emotions at this year’s award ceremony. Some of this year’s big winners who went home with the priceless 23.9 Karat gold plated AFRIMA trophy are Charlotte Dipanda from Cameroon who went home with 3 awards; Album of the Year, Best Female in Central Africa, and Best Artiste in African Contemporary.

Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania also won Artiste of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Male Artiste in Eastern Africa.

Cassper Nyovest from South Africa, has in his kit two awards; Best Male Artiste in Southern Africa and Best Artiste in African Hip Hop While Kenya group singers, Souti Sol got Best African Group/Duo/ Band and producer of the Year.

One of the high points of the award ceremony was the honour bestowed on the former Lagos State Governor, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Africa Pillar of Arts and Culture and AFRIMA legendary award to the Ladysmith Black Mambazo for still staying strong after five decades.

African artistes who recorded their names on the award winners’ list are Vanessa Mdee (TSA), Yemi Alade (NIG), AKA (SA), Stanley Enow (CAM), Flavour (NIG), Tsedenia (ETH), Darey (NIG), M’vula (ANG), Olamide (NIG), Wiyaala (GHA), Adekunle Gold (NIG), Kiss Daniel (NIG), Jose Chameleone (UGA), Praiz (NIG) among others.

VANESSA MDEE CONTINUING TO SET THE PACE WITH AWARD NOMINATIONS & PERFORMANCE AT ONE OF AFRICA’S BIGGEST AWARD CEREMONIES

Tanzanian hit maker Vanessa Mdee aka Vee Money, has for the second year in a row been nominated for an All African Music Award (AFRIMA) for her song Hawajui and inspirational collabo – Strong Girl.

With the awards ceremony set to be in Lagos – Nigeria, Vee Money will also be joining a lineup of performers that includes multi award winning South African Male choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo who are set to grace the stage.

Vanessa Mdee is nominated in the Best African Pop Song category for the big bass Swahili flavoured Hawajui and Best Collaboration for the inspirational all girl hit Strong Girl – a song done alongside acts such as Yemi Alade, Waje and Victoria Kimani.

Vanessa came into the scene in 2012 where she featured in the club banging Me and You with Ommy Dimpoz and has had six singles since including Closer, Come Over, Hawajui, Never Ever, Siri and Nobody But Me featuring South African rapper K.O.

The 2015 All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, would be anchored by the continent’s most outstanding hosts and hostesses. AFRICAN UNION TO HONOUR BOLA TINUBU

AT AFRIMA 2015 Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is to be specially honoured with the prestigious award as “Pillar of Art and Culture in Africa” by the African Union Commission (AUC) at the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA 2015, scheduled to hold on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.
The International Committee of AFRIMA made this known in Lagos during the ceremony of revealing the activities of the award ceremony. Tinubu was former governor of Lagos State in Nigeria (1999-2007). He’s known to have stimulated conversations among Africans and between Africa and the rest of the globe about the potentials and values of the African culture and artistic legacy for the purpose of creating jobs, reducing poverty, inspiring social change and development, calling attention of world leaders to Africa and promoting the positive image of Africa to the world for global competitiveness. A staunch supporter of arts, culture and creatives initiatives for social change for decades. He supported “Fela on Broadway” to be staged for the first time in Africa in Lagos in 2011. The honour was made known to Tinubu in separate letters from AFRIMA and the African Union as signed by Commissioner for Social Affairs, AU, His Excellency, Dr Mustapha Sidiki Kaloko. Tinubu was finally selected among a pool of hundreds of illustrious sons and daughters of Africa being considered for the award, who are lovers of arts and culture for social change. In his acceptance letter, Asiwaju Tinubu stated,

    “I accept this honour and look forward to the award. I identify with the mandate of AFRIMA working through the instrumentality of the African Union to showcase, preserve and globalise Africa’s rich heritage in the aspects of music and culture”
