A transgender woman who was made to serve her jail sentence in an all-male prison was today moved to a women’s jail following a national outcry.
Tara Hudson, 26, was sent back to HMP Bristol in tears after losing a court appeal – but judges called on prison officials to consider moving her to a women’s jail.
And this afternoon it was reported that she had been moved to Eastwood Park to serve out the rest of her sentence after 150,000 members of the public signed a petition in her support.
The make-up artist was jailed for headbutting a bar manager in a drunken Boxing Day attack, and sent to a men’s prison because she is still legally male despite six years of sex-change surgery.
She claims she was abused by fellow prisoners, who shouted ‘show us your t**s’ at her whenever she leaves her cell.
